This article analyzes the socio-political development of Polynesian peoples prior to the Age of Geographical Discoveries, their traditional systems of governance, and the process of formation of statehood institutions. The study focuses on Polynesian political structures that emerged across the archipelagos of the Pacific Ocean, the role of chiefs, territorial unions formed on the basis of seafaring, the Easter Island culture, and the distinctive features of the emergence of early centralized states such as the Tu‘i Tonga Empire.
