This article examines the legal nature of drinking water supply contracts from an academic doctrine perspective. The author criticizes the established practice of subsidiarily applying energy supply regulations to water obligations. A comprehensive analysis of Law No. 784 and Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 194 is provided. The need to establish the contract as a separate institution within the Civil Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan is substantiated. Aspects of digitalization and international experience (USA, Russia) are considered.
